In 2008, Jeffrey Epstein, a wealthy businessman, was convicted of sexually abusing a minor.  It is speculated that he abused over 30 girls on his private island. Capsized is based on the accounts of these victims. It follows 5 teenaged girls and one child of 9 as they cope with a life of sex slavery. Although the play centers on an experience of trauma, Capsized is full of joy, laughter and love. It is about young women finding beauty in horrible circumstances and finding the power and courage to protect each other. It is a love letter to survivors.
